Affinity

Overview

Affinity is a new product that DonateEquity wants to implement. Instead of gathering data on a potential donors’ company (what GivingLeads currently offers), DonateEquity wants Affinity to collect personalized information on potential donors as well as help charities establish relationships with new people outside their social circle. This requires relationship science, where a network of potential donors and their connections are drawn and cross-references between people are made. The goal of Affinity is to help nonprofits discover leads they were not aware of and widen their existing pool of potential donors.

User Group

Development Officers at Universities with the goal of establishing relationship with future an/or current donors.

Final Prototype

Design Rationale

This project was challenging yet rewarding. My team and I wanted to create a simple yet functional design to meet the needs of University donation officers. It was imperative that we understood the workflow and job at hand. I know we created something truly based off of research. Our prototype follows the guidelines of a current portfolio of a development officer. Affinity as a phone application allows officer to make changes as needed right at their finger tips.

Individual Contributions

My first semester long project was a memorable one. My favorite part was conducting interviews since that was the majority of the project. I was able to interview three development officers and gained some really important insights for my team. Sketching was hard, but I was able to hold my own when we moved to the platform, Whimsical, to create some medium fidelity mock-ups. Throughout the semester I presented different parts of out sprint/design process through class critiques. I’ve learned so much this semester. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1RJ8u2n5QM5yw5ns94Op4a0nzoPZrM8q_Yu7kVqHv8Ck/edit?usp=sharing this link presents more learning objectives and contributions I’ve made this semester.
